Have a Relaxing {Thanksgiving} Weekend!

What are you plans for Thanksgiving? We go to our family friends' house every year - we usually bring the desserts, so this year we're trying this Heath Toffee Cheesecake. Here in the Midwest we're currently living in a snow globe - seriously, I wish you could see how sleepily the snow is falling - and while I'm loving this white blanketed beauty, part of me is wishing for warmer summer days....can anyone say California weather?

Happy Thanksgiving to you and your friends, family, and anyone else you spend it with!

Portrait of a Wookie - and Other Supernatural Stars

It seems that supernatural themes are dominating the screens, bookshelves, and now even the art world. Photographer Sacha Goldberger has mixed the fantastic and the fanciful in his new series, "Super Flamands" in which he has reimagined our favorite superheroes and Star Wars characters through the scope of 16th century portraiture.

Chewbacca wearing a ruff is my favorite :)

OBJCTS: Jewelry of the Future

Any jewelry website that reads "A collaboration between man and robot..." is a good one to me. OBJCTS, a New York based company, creates 3D printed unisex jewelry in simple, geometric shapes. The beauty of the 3D printing process for is that their rings come in various finishes and sizes (between 4 and 10). If the variety, beauty, and pure technological genius of this isn't cool enough for you, then may I point you in the direction of the picture below....

Yep! OBJCTS has a ring that double as beautiful accessory and bottle opener. Wear this to your next gathering and you'll be the star of the evening - who doesn't love a person who can simply open beer bottles with their fashion statements?

NEW WORK

Greetings! You may all have thought that I dropped off the face of the earth these last two weeks - and to be honest during those three mind blowing hours of watching Matthew McConaughey talk beautiful gibberish in space I almost forgot I was still on planet earth. I digress, I'm not in space with a hunky astronaut turned farmer turned astronaut; rather I'm still in Minneapolis soaking up all of the glittery snowy goodness that surrounds me. I've also been working on school projects, and since I know you wake up every morning wondering what I'm up to, I thought I'd grace you with my recent design work! Read more below...

This project was definitely not one I thought I would enjoy, and while at times I was close to sitting in a corner eating my hair, I was extremely pleased with the outcome. The project client was General Mills (yes yes, the cereal geniuses) and the goal was to create an open office environment for them. Take a look at the renderings here!

VERTICAL GREEN SPACE

Living in an urban environment can sometimes mean that all you green thumbs out there don't get a chance to surround yourself with lush green spaces. Your downtown pad might be nice, but that view of the brick wall outside your bedroom window? Probably not doing it, eh? But good news! You can bring the outdoors in with indoor gardens, like this vertical installation in a Ukrainian apartment

Your plant life game certainly doesn't need to be to this caliber. Try a hanging planters, terrariums, or succulent displays.
