paper money art

Destroying currency is technically illegal in America, however that doesn't seem to stop Mark Wagner, Brooklyn based artist who works primarily with one dollar bills. He's well known for his "Currency Portraits" that include the faces of Abraham Lincoln, Ben Bernanke, and portrait artist legend himself, Chuck Close - all constructed through tiny strips and scraps of paper money. The layered collages are meticulous and extremely detailed, cut with x-acto knives and pasted together to create a not so priceless piece of artwork.
