Going Green

Summer weather may still be in full swing, but that doesn't mean it's not time to start preparing for fall fashion. The runways have spoken, and while we all guessed that grays, camels, and color blocking would make a return, I'm pleasantly surprised to see the addition of olive green! It may not be as vividly eye catching as the neon trend, but it's a rich, sultry and subtle color that will be great for our fading tans.

What's Your Fitness Routine?

I've never been one to enjoy or even engage in any form of physical activity; I pretty much hate running, I'm not a team player, and I get bored easily {I know, picky}. Recently however I've started changing little things in my daily life to be more healthy and fit. Choosing salad versus fries, lifting weights before bed, etc. etc.

In terms of a workout though I'm pretty low key. While I'm no outdoors woman by any means, I've always enjoyed hiking, so once in a while during the nice weather I head over to a trail for a good hike {plus the scenery is amazing}. When I don't have the time {or the right weather} for such activities, I turn to one of the quickest and newest things: the seven minute workout. It was recently featured in the New York Times; a workout that consists of 12 high intensity exercises over only seven minutes. It pretty much sucks...but it's over in seven minutes!

I'd love to know what you do to stay in shape and keep healthy!

The Weekend in Short - Chicago

Hello hello! I'm back {finally} after a wonderful vacation and a few days to myself I've returned. Here are a few snapshots of what the last week and a half looked like for me. We arrived in Chicago last Saturday night and enjoyed a walk around downtown in the warm summer night, spent the next few days shopping, museum hopping, and of course rocking out at the Jay Z and Justin Timberlake concert {pssst...it was AMAZING}. Over the weekend I also headed up with Hayward, WI with a friend for the World Lumberjack Championship, which was hilariously fantastic. If you're ever in Wisconsin, Hayward is a great little town to go to, it's up north, kind of kitschy, and filled with great local shops and food joints! I managed to pick up just a few pounds of fudge - and also gorge myself on cheese curds. Hope you all had a great few days! Look back the rest of the week for new posts!

MidSummer Break

Oh my! I'm sorry I've been so absent the last week. Sincere apologies! It seems that yet again, the mid-summer laziness has kicked in and the blog has fallen by the wayside. I promise to be back in full swing the middle of next week...you know after I spend the weekend with Justin Timberlake and JayZ for their Legends of the Summer tour! I'll be in Chicago for a few days hitting up art museums, cafes, and of course there will be lots of shopping to be had by all! I've already got my eyes on these fabulous earrings! Happy weekend!!

Friday Fondness - Lazy Weeks

This last week has been super lazy - which with all this beautiful weather has been amazing! Between my mom's birthday, catching a late night cup of tea with friends, and spending the day outside swimming and horseback riding, I'm hesitant for this week to be over. Hoping you all have a wonderfully warm weekend!

The Weekend In Short - Bing, Bang, Boom!

It's back to the grind this week after a very relaxing holiday weekend! I spent the majority of the time doing nothing but lounging with friends and family. We spent the fourth at our local park where we grilled out, played cards and watched really spectacular fireworks. Sarah and I also headed over to Minneapolis for some final rental paperwork and of course a little shopping!

Happy 4th & Long Weekend!

Happy Independence day! I'm hoping you all take this day and holiday weekend to relax and spend time with friends and family! I'm spending the day at a cookout and fireworks show in the evening, just to wake up early Friday morning to head over to Minneapolis. Enjoy this colorful firework filled weekend!

Summer Playlist

During sultry summer days {and nights} I get a strong hankering to relax to my favorite summer songs. There's something special and almost magical about the music you listen to during the summer, they seem to imprint themselves in to your memory, and become the backdrop of beautiful warm moments. While my musical tastes have shifted over the years and I find new tunes to serenade me every summer,  I always manage to throw a few classics into the mix. Here are a few of my favorites this season. Listen to the playlist here on Spotify.

Bad Girls // MIA

Uptown Girl // Billy Joel

Lola // MIKA

Sealion // Feist

Ruby Blue /// Roisin Murphy

In the Sun // She & Him

Steal My Sunshine // Len

Sweetest Thing // U2

Big Country // Bela Fleck

All These Things That I've Done // The Killers

Dance Anthem of the 80's // Regina George

The Weekend in Short - Twenty Years

Yesterday Sarah and I celebrated our 20th birthday with close friends and family, gathered around great food, conversation, and of course an end of the evening bonfire. We were lucky enough to have really gorgeous weather {unlike what we've had recently}. Earlier in the weekend we spent the evening in the park listening to live music, enjoying the view of the river, and eating obscene amounts of cheese curds and fresh strawberry ice cream. Hoping your weekend was just as lovely as mine! Here's to a new month, welcome July!

{Looking forward to a shopping spree}
